dc.description.abstractA oogênese e oviposição podem ser inibidas em Rhodnius prolixus através da administração de ecdisona por via oral. A inibição é dependente da dose e quando supera 4,0 ng ecdisona/mg de peso inseto, os ovários têm o seu tamanho bastante reduzido. Em insetos tratados com ecdisona a oogênese e oviposição podem ser restabelecidas através de subseqüentes administrações de alimento sem adição de ecdisona. Quando o inseto recebe 0,1 µg de hormônio juvenil, logo após a administração da ecdisona, o efeito inibitório deste hormônio não se faz notar. Estes resultados mostram que a ecdisona em Rhodnius prolixus atua como fator antigonadotrópico e este seu mecanismo de ação pode ser revertido pelo hormônio juvenil.por

dc.description.abstractOtherOviposition and oogenesis can be inhibited in Rhodnius prolixus female by ecdysone given by oral route. The inhibition is dose-dependent, and doses higher than 4,0 ng ecdysone/mg body wheight, drastically reduces the size of the ovaries. In ecdysone-treated insects normal oviposition and oogenesis can be reestablished by the subsequent blood meal without ecdysone. When the insect receives 0,1 µg of juvenile hormone, immediately after the administration of ecdysone, the inhibitory effect of this hormone can not be noted. This results show that ecdysone in Rhodnius prolixus, acts as a antigonadotropic factor and this action mecanism can be reverted by juvenile hormone.eng
