Abstract: This study aimed at investigating the consortium of native forest species in the seedling process. The species Pterogyne nitens and Gallesia integrifolia were produced on plastic bags 14 x 20 cm (1.248 cm³) and plastics bags 20 x 25 cm (3.183 cm3). Beyond the two tipes of containers, the species were planted individually as together (consortium). The experiment was constituted by six treatments being allocated on individual beds standing on the arboretum ground. Each bed had 66 seedlings but only the 36 centered seedlings were measured considering the border effect on beds. The estimates in the arboretum phase consisted of measurements of shoot height (H) and diameter (DC) realized at day 60, 90,120 and 150 after sown. In this last measurement, twelve seedlings closer to the average height and diameter of the shoot were chosen due to the evaluation of shoot dry mass (MSPA), root dry mass (MSR), leaf area (AF) and the Dickson quality index (IQD). Through Student t test for independent sample, with 5% significance, it has been compared the seedling quality parameters as well as Dickson quality index for the seedling that had been produced. It was verified for both species that the best treatment is the individual grow on the 20 x 25 cm plastic bag. The second best treatment for both species was so the individual grow on the 14 x 20 cm plastic bag as the consortium growing on the 20 x25 cm container. The worst treatment for both species was the consortium growing on the 14 x 20 cm container.
